ADC and AFL Resolve Pending Litigation, Reach FTTX Licensing Agreement

MINNEAPOLIS, Jul 27, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- ADC (NASDAQ: ADCT) (www.adc.com) today announced that its patent infringement suit against AFL Telecommunications has been settled. Under the agreement, ADC has added AFL as another licensee to certain patents pertaining to ADC's fiber-to-the-premises (FTTX) technology. ADC's patent technology relates to fiber distribution hubs and optical splitter modules that are widely deployed in an FTTX environment.

"AFL Telecommunications is the second company to take a license to ADC's patented FTTX technology under ADC's FTTX licensing program, which provides further recognition of the value of our portfolio to the FTTX market," said Jaxon Lang, vice president, Global Connectivity Solutions - Americas for ADC.

In its patent case, ADC alleged that AFL Telecommunications infringed on various ADC patents, including ADC's U.S. Patent Nos. 7,200,317 ("the '317 patent"), 7,233,731 ("the '731 patent") and 7,407,330 ("the '330 patent"), which are directed to fiber distribution hubs, and ADC's U.S. Patent Nos. 7,277,620 ("the '620 patent") which is directed to a fiber optic splitter module.
