ADC Powers Cellular Service for Vancouver Sports Facilities

  • InterReach In-building Wireless Systems Selected for Key Venues

MINNEAPOLIS, Feb 04, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- ADC (NASDAQ: ADCT) (www.adc.com) today announced that ADC's InterReach Fusion(R) and InterReach Unison(R) distributed antenna systems (DAS) have recently been deployed to provide pervasive, multi-operator wireless and public safety radio services at all major sports venues and many hospitality sites in support of major upcoming activities in Vancouver. In addition, ADC systems also are being deployed at Vancouver International Airport.

The major sites covered are BC Place Stadium, GM Place, the Vancouver Convention Centre and Convention Centre West Expansion, the Richmond Oval, University of British Columbia (UBC) Winter Sports Centre, the Westin Grand Hotel, and Westin Bayshore Hotel. ADC has extensive experience in covering large public facilities, including previous venues for major sports events such as previous Winter Games, the Super Bowl and the Ashes Cricket Series.

The deployments provide uniform coverage for 700 MHz public safety and 1900MHz CDMA frequencies and will support service for three major Canadian mobile operators. Specific configurations include:

  • BC Place -1900 MHz CDMA service distributed through 52 remote antenna units (RAUs).
  • GM Place -1900 MHz service distributed through 44 RAUs and 700 MHz public service distributed through 5 RAUs.
  • Richmond Oval -1900 MHz CDMA service distributed through 37 RAUs and 700 MHz public safety service distributed through 37 RAUs.
  • Vancouver Convention Centre (also called Canada Place) -1900 MHz CDMA service distributed through 16 RAUs.
  • Vancouver Convention Centre West Expansion -1900 MHz CDMA service distributed through 38 RAUs and 700 MHz public safety service distributed through 38 RAUs.
  • UBC Winter Sports Centre -1900 MHz CDMA service distributed through 17 RAUs.
  • Westin Grand Hotel -1900 MHz CDMA service distributed through 19 RAUs.
  • Westin Bayshore Hotel -1900 MHz CDMA service distributed through 17 RAUs.
